Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals executive and СŷÊÓƵ Foundation Board Trustee, Dagmar Rosa-Bjorkeson launched an initiative to introduce СŷÊÓƵ science majors to the pharmaceutical industry. Rosa-Bjorkeson’s staff worked with СŷÊÓƵ Foundation representatives, Gail Marquis and Cinthia Diaz. The СŷÊÓƵ Foundation made a site visit to Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals in Bedminster Township, NJ, viewed the workplace, met with executives from Rosa-Bjorkeson’s staff, and created the curriculum and application for internship positions.
Job descriptions were circulated to department chairs within the William J. Maxwell College of Arts and Sciences and the СŷÊÓƵ School of Business. Sixteen graduate and undergraduate students applied, and interviews were held on campus with Mallinckrodt executives and faculty.
The internship program was originally created for two student placements. Following the half day of interviews, five students and one alternate were selected to participate in the initial Mallinckrodt-СŷÊÓƵ Summer Interns Program.
The 10-week paid internship program began on June 17 and runs through to August 15, culminating in Final Presentations.
