Сŷ��Ƶ

A record total of 60 Сŷ��Ƶ students took part in a recent music conference that is attended annually by hundreds of high school students, collegiate music majors, and faculty representing all universities in New Jersey and guests from throughout the Northeast.  

Hosted by the New Jersey Music Educators Association, the conference took place February 22-24 at the Hilton East Brunswick Hotel, and performances and lectures were selected through peer review, by delegates of NJMEA.

“We are so proud of the incredible energy and professionalism that our Сŷ��Ƶ Music Education Majors displayed over the 3 days of the conference this year,” said Dr. Joseph D’Auguste, Coordinator of Woodwind Studies. “Our students attended lectures, met master performers and educators and represented Сŷ��Ƶ as volunteers to help run the conference.

The future of Music Education is in very capable hands!” he added.

Сŷ��Ƶ was proudly represented by three performances from the Сŷ��Ƶ Clarinet Choir (Dr. D’Auguste, Director) Сŷ��Ƶ Jazz Orchestra (Dr. Gabriel Alegria, Director) and the Сŷ��Ƶ Percussion Ensemble (Dr. Greg Giannascoli, Director).

In addition, Сŷ��Ƶ faculty members Dr. D’Auguste, Dr. Alegria, Jazz Coordinator, and Dr. Carol Shansky, of Music Education, gave innovative lectures that drew hundreds of audience members to hear about topics relevant to music educators today.

Student leaders attending the conference included Brittney Crawford, President of the Сŷ��Ƶ National Association for Music Education Collegiate Chapter, Vice President Dylon Haviland, Treasurer Ashay Morwale, and Secretary Thea Horowitz.
